Type: Acquisition · Technology: Data Center, Transmission, Solar, Storage, Hybrid · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-07-10
EQT Infrastructure VII agreed to acquire Copia Power, a U.S.-based AI and energy infrastructure platform, from Carlyle in a deal expected to close by the end of 2026. Copia develops integrated energy campuses that combine over 2.6 GW of operational or under-construction power generation and energy storage assets with high-voltage transmission infrastructure and data center capacity at a single grid connection point. The company is also developing more than 9 GW of grid-connected data center capacity, supported by a development pipeline exceeding 25 GW of solar and battery storage and 7 GW of natural gas generation. EQT highlighted that the acquisition aligns with its strategy to invest in infrastructure addressing the growing demand for artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure, where reliable electricity access has become a critical constraint for data center expansion.
