Equinor and Rio Energy acquire 230 MW Esquina do Vento Wind Project from Vestas in Brazil
Equinor, through its subsidiary Rio Energy, has acquired the 230 MW Esquina do Vento wind project in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, from Vestas. The deal includes a turbine supply agreement with Vestas for 51 V163-4.5 MW turbines, with installation expected to begin in March 2027 and completion by end of 2027. Vestas will also provide 30 years of operation and maintenance services under an AOM 5000 agreement. This marks the first collaboration between Equinor/Rio Energy and Vestas in Brazil and underscores Vestas' role as a full-cycle partner in the country's energy transition. The project is expected to power approximately 520,000 homes and contribute to Brazil's clean energy matrix and energy security.
