ESB took a Final Investment Decision (FID) for the 96 MW Chleansaid Wind Farm in the Scottish Highlands, marking the project's transition from development to construction. Located near Lairg, the wind farm will consist of 16 turbines and has secured a 15-year Contract for Difference, ensuring revenue stability. GE Vernova was awarded a supply contract to provide turbines and long-term servicing, while Kirby Group and Farrans Construction were contracted to deliver the electrical and civil balance of plant, respectively. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2026, with commercial operation targeted for 2028. The project represents ESB's first wholly developed onshore wind initiative in Scotland and aligns with its broader 2 GW pipeline of onshore wind projects across Scotland and Wales.
