ESR acquires 100% of Aquila Clean Energy APAC

ESR has agreed to acquire 100% of Aquila Clean Energy APAC from Germany's Aquila Group, adding a 1.6 GW portfolio of solar, battery storage, and wind assets spanning operations, construction, and advanced development across Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. Completion is expected by Q1 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and applicable approvals. Phil Pearce, President of ESR, stated the acquisition aligns with the firm's focus on sectors underpinning resilient supply chains and digital economies, noting the increasing interconnection between logistics infrastructure, data centres, and power. Apurv Choudhary, Group Head of Infrastructure at ESR, emphasized the strategic fit, noting Aquila Clean Energy APAC brings an experienced team and a high-quality, diversified renewables portfolio across key Asia-Pacific markets that is adjacent to ESR's existing footprint. Roman Rosslenbroich, CEO and Co-founder of Aquila Group, expressed pride in the platform built, stating ESR, one of the leading real asset owners in the region, is a strong owner for the business.
