Europastry acquires US bakery Highland Baking Company

Europastry announced it will acquire Highland Baking Company, the Illinois‑based family‑owned bakery, in an undisclosed‑value transaction. Highland Baking, founded in 1984, operates two production facilities in Northbrook, Illinois and Spartanburg, South Carolina, supplying hamburger buns, pretzels and other breads to the foodservice market. The acquisition will lift Europastry’s annual revenue above €2 billion ($2.28 billion) and expands its North American footprint. The deal is slated to close in the second half of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Post‑closing, Europastry plans a substantial investment programme to increase production capacity and broaden its product portfolio in the United States.
