The European Commission awarded €1.09 billion in grants to nine hydrogen projects through its third Hydrogen Bank auction, selecting Turn2X's 9 MW renewable hydrogen plant in Miajadas, Spain, as one of the recipients. The Turn2X project, developed by the German promoter, will produce 6,390 kilotons of hydrogen over 10 years at a fixed premium of €0.62 per kilogram, leveraging biogenic CO₂ from a nearby bioethanol plant to generate renewable natural gas. The broader €1.3 billion auction received 58 bids from 11 countries, exceeding the budget by sixfold, with selected projects spanning seven countries and targeting RFNBO, low-carbon hydrogen, maritime, and aviation applications. Danish projects NJK (300 MW) and Alba (100 MW) secured the largest capacities in the RFNBO category, while Finland's Cloudberry led low-carbon hydrogen with 500 MW and a €0.44/kg offer. Norwegian projects Gen2-LH2 and RogalandH2, aimed at maritime and aviation decarbonization, received the highest premiums at €3.48/kg and €3.49/kg respectively.
