European Energy secured €228 million in funding from Germany's hydrogen auction framework linked to the European Hydrogen Bank to expand hydrogen production capacity at its Kassø site in Denmark by 150MW. The award makes European Energy one of three selected projects under Germany's strategy to accelerate renewable hydrogen and hydrogen derivative development and imports. The funding supports additional hydrogen production connected to Kassø, strengthening Europe's renewable fuels infrastructure. European Energy operates a green hydrogen facility in Esbjerg and co-owns the Kassø e-methanol facility with Mitsui & Co. Ltd. The company emphasized that Germany's requirements for road fuels certified as RFNBO are driving interest in renewable hydrogen and hydrogen-based products.
