Type: Financing · Technology: Hybrid · Country: Australia · Capacity: 80 MWh · Announced: 2026-07-21
Denmark-based European Energy reached financial close on an 80 MWh AC-coupled battery energy storage system to be built alongside its 58 MW Mokoan Solar Farm near Wangaratta, Victoria. German lender Deutsche Bank provided a non-recourse package to refinance existing debt on the solar farm and support the construction and operation of the co-located battery. The 58 MW Mokoan Solar Farm has been operational since June 2025, generating approximately 113 GWh annually. Construction of the battery is expected to commence soon, with commissioning anticipated around mid-2027, supporting grid stability and renewable energy integration into the Victorian grid.
