EVO Power supplies eight BESS to Ausconnex for Western Sydney deployment

EVO Power, a Victorian utility-scale battery energy storage system manufacturer, is supplying a suite of eight battery energy storage systems (BESS) for deployment in Greater Western Sydney under a supply agreement with Ausconnex, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Endeavour Energy Group. Together, the eight systems will deliver 40 MW of power and 136 MWh of storage, capturing surplus local rooftop solar generation to support network reliability during extreme weather events common to the Western Sydney region, where temperatures reached 48.9°C in January 2020. The AMP liquid-cooled, lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) containerised solution uses Tier 1 inverter technology with 2–5 MVA capacity, with each unit featuring built-in heaters, chillers, and fire suppression rated 1P54. The privately funded $65 million (USD 46.9 million) portfolio rollout will see construction begin at Penrith and all eight BESS scheduled for completion by 2029, serving suburbs including South Marsden Park, Seven Hills, Emu Plains, Maldon, North Leppington, Cawdor, and Cranebrook. EVO Power Chief Executive Officer Jamie Allen stated the project demonstrates the growing importance of battery storage in enabling the energy transition and enhancing grid resilience for rapidly growing communities.
