Firmus signs 600MW energy supply agreement with Gunvor Group in South Australia
Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Storage · Country: Australia · Capacity: 600 MW · Announced: 2026-07-01
Firmus signed a 600 MW energy supply agreement with Gunvor Group on 1 July 2026. The 12‑year contract will enable the development of 1.2 GW of new renewable generation and 1.5 GWh of battery storage in South Australia by 2032. The agreement also includes a demand‑response commitment allowing Firmus to curtail up to 220 hours of electricity use each year when wholesale prices spike, and it will offtake power from GreenPoint Energy’s 200 MW/800 MWh Koolunga Battery Energy Storage System. The supply deal underpins Firmus’s Project Southgate, its AI data‑center expansion targeting a combined 2.7 GW capacity across Tailem Bend and Stirling North. The deal will strengthen the regional grid, create local jobs, and support Australia’s transition to low‑carbon AI infrastructure. No financial terms were disclosed, and the parties did not name advisors in the announcement.
