FlexGen and Lightshift Energy expand partnership to deploy 80 MW of battery storage across Virginia, New England

FlexGen Power Systems and Lightshift Energy have expanded their partnership to deploy battery energy storage system projects across Massachusetts, Virginia, and Vermont. Through the agreement, Lightshift will develop, own, and operate the facilities while FlexGen supplies its HybridOS energy management system. The companies have previously completed six projects totaling more than 25 MW of power output capacity and 85 MWh of energy storage, with the majority serving municipal electric utilities. Going forward, the partners are working to deliver another ten installations totaling more than 55 MW in power output and 200 MWh of storage across the PJM and ISO-NE regions. Notably, the upcoming portfolio includes a 16 MW/52 MWh behind-the-meter installation for semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries in Vermont, described at announcement as the state's largest energy storage project. Arlington, Virginia-based Lightshift Energy, founded in 2019, has deployed 31.5 MW/102 MWh in capacity through its partnership with FlexGen, and now maintains an energy storage development pipeline exceeding 16 GWh in total capacity.
