Flower Infrastructure Technologies and ENGIE signed a seven-year virtual flexibility purchase agreement covering 126 MW of battery energy storage capacity in Germany, with the deal starting on 1 January 2029. The agreement supports the financing, deployment, and commercialization of Flower’s battery storage projects, including a 100 MW / 400 MWh project in Hamburg and a recently acquired 63 MW / 257 MWh project in Saxony-Anhalt. ENGIE will secure long-term access to the flexibility provided by Flower’s battery portfolio, integrating it into its trading activities to deliver reliable and competitive flexibility solutions. Katrin Fuhrmann, Managing Director of ENGIE Supply and Energy Management in Germany, highlighted the partnership’s role in scaling battery storage and reinforcing flexibility in the energy system. Flower’s CEO John Diklev emphasized the agreement as a material milestone for Europe’s energy transition, noting the need for scalable, long-term flexibility agreements to unlock capital for future infrastructure.
