Ford Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, signed a five-year framework supply agreement with EDF Power Solutions to deliver up to 20 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS). Under the terms, EDF Power Solutions will acquire up to 4 GWh of Ford Energy DC Block systems annually, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2028. The Ford Energy DC Block is a standardized 20-foot containerized BESS built around 512 Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prismatic cells, initially offered in two configurations: the FE-250 (2-hour duration) and FE-450 (4-hour duration). Ford Energy plans to invest approximately $2 billion over the next two years to scale its BESS business, targeting annual deployments of 20 GWh with first customer deliveries expected by late 2027. The agreement underscores Ford Energy's focus on serving utility companies, data centers, and large commercial and industrial customers in the U.S. market.
