Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Transport · Country: Germany · Announced: 2026-05-08
Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH (FES) finalized a purchase agreement with Mercedes-Benz Trucks for ten additional Mercedes-Benz eEconic battery-electric waste collection trucks, expanding its fleet to 34 electric vehicles. The eEconic units feature three battery packs (112 kWh installed, 97 kWh usable per pack) enabling full daily collection routes in Frankfurt without intermediate charging, leveraging regenerative braking in stop-and-go operations to maximize range. FES, one of the largest municipal waste management companies in the Rhein-Main region, will deploy the trucks across urban routes including inner-city areas, residential neighborhoods, and along the Main River, prioritizing low-noise operations during early morning hours. The agreement follows successful pilot testing in 2022 and aligns with FES's broader fleet electrification strategy, which includes expanding charging infrastructure at multiple depots to support the growing electric vehicle fleet.
