Furukawa Electric and Vecima Networks announced a partnership to supply next‑generation fibre‑to‑the‑home (FTTH) products to Japan’s cable‑television market. Under the agreement Furukawa will become Vecima’s preferred partner in Japan, initially delivering 10G‑EPON access equipment. The product roadmap includes a future upgrade to 50G‑PON, aiming to support higher bandwidth demands of residential and business customers. The deal gives Vecima a local manufacturing and distribution foothold while expanding Furukawa’s portfolio in high‑speed optical access. The collaboration is expected to accelerate deployment of ultra‑fast broadband across Japan’s densely populated regions, strengthening both companies’ positions in the competitive telecom infrastructure market. No financial terms were disclosed and the partnership was announced on 24 July 2026.
