Type: Acquisition · Technology: Storage · Country: Latvia · Capacity: 45 MW · Announced: 2026-06-17

Futureal Energy Partners (FEP) acquired a 45 MW / 120 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio in Latvia from Aretis Group, marking FEP's strategic expansion into the Baltic energy storage market. The portfolio includes two standalone projects in the Riga metropolitan area: the 15 MW / 40 MWh Bolderaja project and the 30 MW / 80 MWh Bisuciems project, both of which have secured grid connection agreements and building permits. Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026, with commercial operations targeted for November 2026, positioning the projects to support grid reliability and renewable energy integration in Latvia. The acquisition aligns with FEP's broader European renewable energy strategy, which includes solar PV and battery storage investments in Finland, a utility-scale solar project in Hungary, and a 45 MW onshore wind project under construction in Poland. Aretis Group developed the projects from greenfield stage through permitting and grid connection approval, demonstrating its expertise in advancing energy storage solutions in the Baltics.
