GE Vernova Inc. secured an EPC contract to deliver nine 150 MW pumped-storage units for Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd’s 1.35 GW Upper Sileru hydropower project in Andhra Pradesh, India. The project, expected to be completed by 2030, will be among India’s largest pumped storage hydropower facilities, with a capacity sufficient to meet the annual electricity needs of approximately three million Indian households. GE Vernova’s scope includes design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply, transportation, and supervision of erection, testing, and commissioning of the units and control systems. Once operational, the Upper Sileru pumped storage project will provide long-duration energy storage, supporting grid reliability, peak demand management, and frequency regulation as India scales up solar and wind capacity. This marks the second pumped-storage collaboration between GE Vernova and Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd, following their ongoing 500 MW Kundah hydropower project in India.
