González Garrido Moimbra awarded €1.65 million contract for 263 MWp solar and storage expansion in Jaén's water supply system
Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Solar · Country: Spain · Capacity: 263 MW · Value: EUR 1.65M · Announced: 2026-05-08
The Diputación Provincial de Jaén awarded a €1.65 million contract to González Garrido Moimbra for the expansion of photovoltaic generation and energy storage systems across three water supply facilities in Jaén. The project includes 263 MWp of solar capacity split across Las Copas (102.24 kWp with 1,028 kWh storage), Hillillos (920.16 kWp), and Batanejo (1,022.4 kWp), targeting daily consumption coverage of 2.11 MWh, 18.38 MWh, and 24.18 MWh respectively. González Garrido Moimbra will install 144 modules at Las Copas with four 75 kW battery cabinets totaling 1,028 kWh, while Hillillos and Batanejo will receive 1,296 and 1,440 modules respectively without storage due to continuous operational demand. The expansion aims to reduce grid electricity consumption for the region's water pumping and treatment infrastructure, which operates continuously with high energy demand. The project is part of Jaén's broader strategy to integrate renewable energy into municipal infrastructure operations. The contract was awarded on May 8, 2026, with installation expected to complete within the same year.
