Google and energy developer Intersect are trialing a new "power-first" approach at their Texas AI campus, pairing a state-of-the-art data center with 1 GW of dedicated power generation. The Meitner site will be co-located with more than a gigawatt of wind, solar, and battery storage systems, supplemented by on-site gas generation for reliability. This strategy prioritizes power generation alongside computing demand, aiming to meet data center needs while reducing reliance on the local grid.
