GRS delivers EPC services for BNZ's 49 MWp Gemunde solar plant in Portugal

GRS, Grupo Gransolar’s solar and storage engineering, procurement, and construction contractor, delivered the 49 MWp Gemunde solar plant for BNZ in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal. The plant, BNZ’s first operational solar project in Portugal, is expected to generate approximately 78,400 MWh annually and avoid around 30,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year. This infrastructure is a key milestone for BNZ's operational consolidation in the Portuguese market, supporting the energy transition and energy independence of Portugal and Europe. The project involved complex topographical challenges, requiring intelligent planning and execution to develop a high-performance infrastructure. BNZ plans to invest up to €600 million in Portugal to commission nine solar plants, including Gemunde and the 28 MWp Muro project, and integrate 150 MW of battery storage into its assets.
