Grupo Olfar, a Brazilian biodiesel producer, acquired a 48.6% stake in the Sertão Solar Barreiras XV, XVIII, and XIX solar projects, which collectively have a 192.5 MWp installed capacity and are operated by Echoenergia. The transaction, structured under Brazil's autoproduction model, secures 27 MW of contracted energy for Grupo Olfar, delivering over 20% cost savings and reducing CO₂ emissions by 70,000 tons annually. The deal was structured by Ludfor Energia, which handled technical, regulatory, corporate, financial, and contractual aspects, leveraging regulatory benefits such as exemptions from sectoral charges like CDE, ESS, EER, ERCAP, and nuclear energy quotas. The autoproduction model combines long-term contracts with regulatory advantages for self-consumption, aligning with Grupo Olfar's sustainability goals and strengthening its appeal to ESG-focused investors and partners.
