Gulf LNG Tugs of Brownsville, LLC—a joint venture formed by Bay-Houston Management, Moran Towing Corp., and Suderman & Young Towing Company—partnered with Sterling Shipyard to deliver 13 specialized LNG terminal support vessels through 2029. The Laguna Gulf, the first vessel in this orderbook, is a 99-foot, 7,000-hp tractor tugboat with 80-ton bollard pull capacity and ABS Fire Fighting Vessel 1 certification, designed for ship-assist operations at LNG terminals. The joint venture was established to provide marine services at five LNG terminals along the US Gulf Coast, ensuring steady demand for purpose-built vessels. Sterling Shipyard, which has built 13 vessels in the Z-Tech® 30-80 series, will deliver the remaining 12 vessels by 2029, supporting the expansion of LNG infrastructure. The partnership leverages over 400 years of combined expertise in towage and ship-assist services from the three founding companies.
