Type: Ppa · Technology: Storage · Country: India · Capacity: 450 MW · Announced: 2026-08-11

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) finalized its Phase IX tender for 450 MW/900 MWh of standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity, awarding contracts to NLC India Renewables Ltd and Sun Drops Energia Ltd at a lowest discovered tariff of INR 231,989 per MW per month. NLC India Renewables secured a 275 MW allocation at INR 231,989/MW/month, while Sun Drops Energia received 410 MW at INR 231,990/MW/month, with projects to be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. The BESS projects will be connected to Gujarat's state grid and provide energy storage services to GUVNL on demand, supporting state distribution companies during peak and off-peak periods with two full charge-discharge cycles per day. GUVNL will enter into battery energy storage purchase agreements (BESPAs) with the selected developers, with projects eligible for viability gap funding under the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) scheme. The tender represents Gujarat's push to integrate large-scale energy storage to stabilize renewable energy integration and grid reliability.
