Haizea Wind delivers the largest offshore wind monopiles in Southern Europe to Orsted for Hornsea 3 project

Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Offshore Wind · Country: United Kingdom · Announced: 2026-08-06

Haizea Wind Group delivered the largest offshore wind monopiles in Southern Europe to Danish renewable energy company Orsted under a supply agreement. The monopiles, 11 m in diameter, over 105 m long and weighing more than 2,300 tonnes, will support the 15 MW turbines of the Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm in the North Sea. Hornsea 3, with a total capacity of 2.9 GW, is slated to supply clean electricity to over 3.3 million UK households. The delivery underscores Orsted’s expansion of its offshore wind portfolio and highlights Haizea Wind’s capability as the only Spanish manufacturer able to produce such large components. Logistics for the transport and loading were handled by Grúas Aguado, Cadeler, and Mammoet, using self‑propelled modular transporters. The deal was announced on 6 August 2026, adding 400 new jobs at Haizea Wind’s Bilbao plant.
