Harrison Street sells 49% stake in 14-property University of Kentucky student housing portfolio to BBGI Global Infrastructure
Type: Sale · Technology: Hospitality · Country: United States · Value: $150M · Announced: 2026-09-10
Harrison Street Asset Management sold its 49% stake in a 14-property, 6,850-bed on-campus student housing portfolio at the University of Kentucky to BBGI Global Infrastructure, a transaction finalized on September 10, 2026. The portfolio, initially acquired by Harrison Street in December 2020, has maintained full occupancy alongside 24% enrollment growth at the university. The sale also included Harrison Street's 90% stake in Kirwan Blanding Hall, a newly developed 334-unit residence hall with approximately 650 beds scheduled to open for the 2026-2027 academic year. Greystar, which served as Harrison Street's joint venture partner across all properties, will remain the majority owner and continue managing the portfolio under the public-private partnership arrangement with the University of Kentucky. The deal underscores strong investor demand for higher education public-private partnership assets, with pricing exceeding Harrison Street's expectations and reflecting positive long-term fundamentals for on-campus housing.
