Hera secures environmental approval for 60.6 MW agrivoltaic project with 25.5 MW battery storage in Latina

Type: Development · Technology: Solar · Country: Italy · Capacity: 60.6 MW · Announced: 2026-05-29

Hera, through its renewable energy arm Hego Renewables Spa, secured a positive environmental impact assessment (VIA) from Italy's Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (Mase) for the 60.6 MW 'Pacoli Verdi' agrivoltaic project in Cisterna di Latina. The project integrates a 25.5 MW battery storage system, marking one of the largest agrivoltaic installations approved in May 2026. Located in the Lazio region, the project combines agricultural activities with solar power generation across 120 hectares, adhering to Italy's agrivoltaic guidelines. The storage component will enable grid stabilization and energy shifting, supporting Italy's renewable energy integration targets. The positive VIA clears the way for final permitting and construction, with commercial operation expected by 2028.
