Hithium signs supply agreement with GPG for 421 MWh BESS in Queensland

Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Storage · Country: Australia · Capacity: 421 MWh · Announced: 2026-08-14

China-headquartered Hithium has signed a supply agreement with Global Power Generation (GPG), the renewable energy arm of Spain-headquartered Naturgy Group, to provide a 421 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). This BESS will be integrated into the 330 MW Fraser Coast Hybrid solar-plus-storage project located approximately 300 kilometers north of Brisbane, Queensland. Construction for the project commenced in July 2026, and the AC-coupled energy storage system will connect to the adjacent solar farm's 33 kV switchgear, enabling charging from both the solar plant and the electricity grid. Hithium will deliver 84 liquid-cooled BESS units, along with comprehensive services including system design, manufacturing, factory acceptance testing, delivery, commissioning, technical support, and training. This agreement marks Hithium's inaugural utility-scale collaboration with GPG.
