Hydrogen Adige Valley joint venture inaugurated with €35 million EU financing
Type: Partnership · Technology: Hydrogen · Country: Italy · Value: EUR 35M · Announced: 2026-06-25
The Province of Bolzano, Sasa SpA and Alperia Green Generation Srl signed a partnership to create the Hydrogen Adige Valley joint venture, backed by €35 million financing from the European Union. The project combines a 2 MW green‑hydrogen electrolyser with a 1.5 MW photovoltaic plant installed on a bus parking lot in Bolzano Sud. The facility is expected to generate about 1.89 GWh of renewable electricity per year and produce at least 360 kg of hydrogen daily for local public transport and refuelling stations in Bolzano and Merano. The partnership aligns with the Brenner Green Corridor initiative and strengthens the region’s energy autonomy and zero‑emission mobility goals. The EU funding was mobilised through the Next Generation EU programme, meeting the PNRR deadlines and supporting the rapid twelve‑month construction schedule.
