HyOrc signs binding agreement with OnEnergy for waste-to-methanol project in Bulgaria

Type: Partnership · Technology: Waste Waste · Country: Bulgaria · Announced: 2026-03-31

HyOrc signed a binding agreement with OnEnergy to serve as the technology partner for Stage 3 of a Bulgarian waste-to-methanol project, leveraging thermochemical conversion of refuse-derived fuel (RDF). The facility will process approximately 50,000 tonnes of RDF annually, operating 330 days per year with a daily throughput of 150–155 tonnes, targeting a methanol production capacity of 38–42 tonnes per day. The project aligns with EU decarbonization and circular economy priorities, forming part of an integrated waste-to-energy platform in Bulgaria. HyOrc will lead technical preparations for EU Innovation Fund pathways, while OnEnergy’s CEO Arch Pavleta Pelovska emphasized the project’s role in building a scalable foundation for Europe’s decarbonization goals. Reginald Fubara, CEO of HyOrc, highlighted the collaboration’s potential to deliver a robust and scalable solution through established industrial development pathways.
