Type: Partnership · Technology: Hydrogen · Country: India · Announced: 2026-08-17
Hystar and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) signed a strategic collaboration agreement to enable phased local manufacturing of ultra-efficient PEM electrolysers for green hydrogen projects in India. The partnership combines Hystar’s high-efficiency PEM electrolyser technology with BHEL’s engineering, manufacturing, and project execution capabilities to develop cost-competitive, locally manufactured systems tailored for the Indian market. The agreement was formalized at BHEL’s corporate office in New Delhi in the presence of a delegation from the Royal Norwegian Embassy led by Chargé d’Affaires Arvinn Eikeland Gadgil. This collaboration aligns with India’s push to build a domestic green hydrogen industry under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and the government’s 'Make in India' initiatives. Hystar CEO Fredrik Mowill stated that the partnership provides a pathway to deploy the company’s technology in India while simultaneously building local manufacturing capabilities with BHEL.
