Type: Financing · Technology: Biomass, Solar, Hydro, Storage · Country: Spain · Value: EUR 50M · Announced: 2026-05-11
The Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía (IDAE), acting under the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), awarded €50 million in grants to 12 renewable energy projects under the RENOCOGEN program. The funding supports biomass, biogas, solar-plus-storage, and small hydroelectric projects replacing fossil fuels in industrial and agricultural sectors. Papelera del Oria secured €3.71 million for a biomass plant in País Vasco, while Inpelsa (Grupo Lederval) received €1.49 million for a solar and hydrothermal installation in Navarra. Malpesa and Cerámica La Paloma II each obtained over €1.2 million for solar-plus-storage projects in Andalucía and Castilla-La Mancha, respectively. Argal and Forrajes de Ribaforada were awarded €908,949 and €1.19 million for solar-plus-storage in Navarra. Fompedraza received €1.96 million to hybridize cogeneration with solar and storage in Castilla y León. Grupo Samca secured €1.91 million for the 'Samca Cabanes' solar-plus-storage project in Comunitat Valenciana. Casat obtained the largest grant of €5.81 million for the Piroliva-CH4 pyrolysis project in Extremadura. A desalination plant in Aragón and Delicatessen La Ermite in Cantabria received €448,500 and €775,698, respectively, for solar-plus-storage. Ekorek was granted €497,297 for a solar-plus-storage project in País Vasco. The RENOCOGEN program, funded by Next Generation EU through Spain's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, aims to replace fossil fuels in industrial processes with renewable alternatives.
