Igneo Infrastructure Partners acquires 46 MW of distributed energy assets from Green Squares Energy to launch Vertis Energy platform

Type: Acquisition · Technology: Hybrid · Country: Australia · Capacity: 46 MW · Announced: 2026-07-29

Global investment firm Igneo Infrastructure Partners has signed a binding agreement to acquire 46 MW of operating distributed energy assets across approximately 240 Australian sites from Sydney-headquartered commercial and industrial (C&I) renewables specialist Green Squares Energy. This portfolio, comprising behind- and front-of-meter solar and battery energy storage systems, will serve as the launch pad for Igneo’s new distributed energy platform, Vertis Energy. The acquisition includes 34 MW of behind-the-meter solar and 12 MW of small utility-scale front-of-meter solar farms with co-located battery energy storage developments, along with a pipeline of growth opportunities. Vertis Energy, led by Jason Willoughby, will build, own, and operate onsite solar and battery systems backed by power purchase agreements with C&I customers. The deal is subject to FIRB and ACCC approvals and reflects Igneo's conviction in the long-term opportunity for distributed energy infrastructure in Australia.
