INES (CEA) and Mondragon Assembly partner to develop industrial tool for integrating photovoltaic technology into customized products
Type: Partnership · Technology: Solar · Country: France, Spain · Announced: 2026-07-10
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) through its National Solar Energy Institute (INES) and Mondragon Assembly, a Spanish photovoltaic equipment manufacturer, jointly announced a partnership to develop an industrial tool enabling the integration of photovoltaic technology into non-standardized products. The collaboration focuses on creating a prefabricated photovoltaic 'core' component that can be incorporated into diverse applications such as electric mobility components and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) through processes like 3D lamination, molding, or overmolding. The project is coordinated by the Spanish technology center Tecnalia and the French Institute for Energy Transition (ITE), operating under INES, with Mondragon Assembly tasked with designing and building the manufacturing equipment. The partnership aims to elevate the technology readiness level (TRL) over a four-year period, targeting the production of 60 m² of photovoltaic panels for integration into building facades at the FACT experimental building located at INES facilities in Le Bourget-du-Lac, France.
