Innergex secures $156 million financing for battery storage projects and refinancing of renewable assets in Chile

Type: Financing · Technology: Storage · Country: Chile · Capacity: 62 MW · Value: $156M · Announced: 2026-06-23

Innergex secured $156 million financing, including $114 million for two new battery storage projects and $42 million to refinance existing wind, hydro and solar PV assets in Chile. The two storage systems, located in northern Chile, will have a combined capacity of 62 MW and a five‑hour duration, allowing excess solar generation to be stored for later use. The refinancing covers wind farms, run‑of‑river hydro plants and solar‑PV plants equipped with storage, helping to reduce renewable curtailment and support grid stability. The financing was provided by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, with DNV supplying market analysis to assess commercial risks and White & Case acting as legal counsel. The deal strengthens Innergex’s renewable portfolio in Chile and supports the country’s transition to higher renewable penetration by adding flexible storage capacity. The transaction was announced on 23 June 2026.
