Jinko ESS and UCB Power form partnership to localize BESS manufacturing in Brazil

Jinko ESS and UCB Power have entered into a partnership to serve the Brazilian battery energy storage systems (BESS) market, with an initial focus on the first capacity reserve auction scheduled for December. The agreement includes the assembly of equipment in Brazil by UCB Power, enabling Jinko ESS to compete in auctions requiring national content and those allowing imported equipment. UCB Power, leveraging over five decades of experience in lead-acid battery manufacturing, will incorporate local content into Jinko ESS's solutions. The initial localization route will be executed at UCB Power's facility in Extrema, Minas Gerais, with potential for future expansion to Manaus, Amazonas, depending on market demand. Jinko ESS is also preparing a new 6.25 MWh container model, SunTera G3, for projects secured through the auction, with initial units produced in Brazil expected approximately eight months after contract confirmation.
