JP Energie Environnement and Générale du Solaire acquire 87 MW solar project from Quercus Énergies and sign CPPA with SNCF Energie
Type: Acquisition · Technology: Solar · Country: France · Capacity: 87 MW · Announced: 2026-05-05
JP Energie Environnement (JPee) and Générale du Solaire have acquired the 87 MW third tranche of the Champs Solaires de Touraine ground-mounted photovoltaic project from Quercus Énergies. This acquisition is part of a larger agreement to supply SNCF Energie with 100 GWh of photovoltaic electricity annually through a Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA). The solar park, located in Sonzay (Indre-et-Loire), is currently under construction and is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2027. Générale du Solaire will oversee the construction of the project, while JPee will be responsible for its maintenance, with both companies holding equal shares in the operating company. This project contributes to SNCF Energie's strategy to cover approximately 20% of its electricity needs with solar PPAs, with the 100 GWh production equivalent to the annual electricity needs of trains on eight lines, including Orléans-Paris and Paris-Tours.
