JV between Itinera, Saipem and ICM awarded €700 million contract for construction of Lot 4 of the A8 Motorway in Romania

A Joint Venture comprising Itinera S.p.A. (40%), Saipem S.p.A. (35%), and ICM S.p.A. (25%) has been awarded a contract worth approximately €700 million by Compania Națională de Investiții Rutiere (CNIR) for the design and construction of Lot 4 of the A8 "Unirii" Motorway in Romania. Saipem's share of the contract amounts to approximately €245 million. The motorway section will span approximately 21 kilometers, including 5 kilometers within the Republic of Moldova, connecting Iași in north-eastern Romania with the Republic of Moldova. The project includes 14 structures such as bridges, viaducts, underpasses, three interchanges, a 500-meter cut-and-cover tunnel, and a 1.7-kilometer twin-bore tunnel. This strategic infrastructure is part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and is funded through the European SAFE (Security Action for Europe) programme.
