Kallista Energy and Engie sign commercial operation agreement for 120 MW battery storage project

French renewable energy producer Kallista Energy commissioned a 120 MW/240 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at its Saleux site in the Somme department, representing an investment of approximately 100 million euros. The project, developed without public subsidies, utilizes lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) technology supplied by Envision AESC, which also provides maintenance and end-of-life recycling services. Kallista Energy selected Envision AESC for the battery supply and maintenance, while Engie will assume commercial operation and optimization of the facility for a seven-year term starting in January 2027. The storage system is designed to provide frequency regulation services to the RTE grid and enhance grid flexibility to support the integration of variable renewable energy sources.
