Kao Data acquires brownfield site in West London for data center development
Type: Acquisition · Technology: Data Center · Country: United Kingdom · Announced: 2026-05-12
UK data center operator Kao Data acquired a 4.7-acre brownfield site in Park Royal, West London, from Legal & General business Reassure Limited in March 2026 for an undisclosed sum. The site, formerly the Frogmore Industrial Estate, will host a new data center campus slated to become operational in 2029. Kao Data, owned by Infratil, Legal & General, and Goldacre, plans to submit formal planning proposals within months as part of the development process. The previous owner, ReAssure Limited, had filed plans in 2021 to demolish existing warehouse buildings to construct a 35,000 sqm (376,736 sq ft) five-story data center and a two-story substation, with on-site solar generation proposed. The Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation had previously rejected ReAssure's reserved matters application but indicated willingness to assist in preparing a new planning submission.
