Keel Infrastructure secures zoning approval for 110MW data center expansion in Sharon, Pennsylvania

The zoning board of Sharon, Pennsylvania approved Keel Infrastructure’s planned 110MW data center expansion on 18 acres of former industrial land, formerly housing a Westinghouse Electric plant. The project, which received approval with conditions including a 70-decibel noise limit and a ban on river water usage, will add to Keel’s existing 30MW facility and target completion of two 80MW substations by the end of 2026. Keel, formerly known as Bitfarms and rebranded in February 2026, plans to deploy Nvidia Vera Rubin hardware at the site once operational. The expansion follows Keel’s October 2025 acquisition of the Clark Street site, marking its pivot from Bitcoin mining to AI and high-performance computing (HPC) data centers in the U.S. Local officials highlighted the project’s potential to revitalize a brownfield site and contribute to community development, despite resident concerns about noise and electricity costs.
