Kumba Iron Ore, through its subsidiary Sishen Iron Ore Company, signed a 63 MW solar power offtake agreement with Envusa Energy on 24 July 2026. The agreement will supply renewable electricity from the Sishen Solar PV project to the Sishen mine located in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. Envusa Energy will develop and operate the solar photovoltaic plant, delivering clean power that will replace a portion of the mine’s fossil‑fuel generation. The offtake is expected to cut the mine’s carbon emissions significantly and generate economic benefits for surrounding communities. This deal expands Kumba’s sustainability portfolio and supports South Africa’s renewable energy targets for the mining sector.
