Kuok Group to invest €5.3bn in Milan hyperscale data center campus
Type: Investment · Technology: Data Center · Country: Italy · Capacity: 300 MW · Value: $6B · Announced: 2026-07-02
Kuok Group, through its digital infrastructure arm K2 Strategic, announced an investment of up to €5.3 billion ($6 billion) to develop a hyperscale data center campus in the southern outskirts of Milan. The planned campus will have an approximate capacity of 300 MW and is expected to create around 200 direct jobs and up to 8,000 construction‑phase positions. The site is slated to be built on a former industrial complex in the town of Magenta, Lombardy, and will consist of five buildings delivering the 300 MW power. The investment aligns with Milan’s rapid data‑center expansion driven by AI demand, as the city aims to add 2 GW of capacity over the next five years, and positions Kuok Group among major hyperscalers already operating in the region. The announcement followed a meeting on 26 June 2026 between K2 Strategic’s CEO Meng Wei Kuok and Italy’s industry minister Adolfo Urso, underscoring government interest in the project. No financing partners or advisors were disclosed, and the project will be managed long‑term by K2 Strategic.
