Lightmatter announced on 2026-08-13 that it has partnered with eighteen leading technology firms to launch the Open Silicon Photonics for AI Systems initiative. The coalition, which includes Celestica, Corning, Dell Technologies, Flex, Foxconn Interconnect Technology, Hyve Solutions, Keysight, Qualcomm Technologies, and Quanta Cloud Technology, aims to create a shared co‑packaged optics blueprint for data center AI clusters. The reference architecture will enable hyperscalers to transition from copper to photonics across modular hardware systems ranging from 72 to over 1,024 nodes.
