Lindian Resources acquires 100% of SARECO's hydrometallurgical rare earth carbonate processing plant in Kazakhstan
Type: Acquisition · Technology: Mining · Country: Kazakhstan · Announced: 2026-08-10
Lindian Resources Limited (ASX: LIN) completed the acquisition of 100% ownership of SARECO's hydrometallurgical rare earth carbonate processing plant (MREC) located in Stepnogorsk, Kazakhstan. The transaction secures Lindian's full control over the facility, which specializes in processing mixed rare earth carbonates, a critical input for permanent magnet production used in electric vehicles and wind turbines. SARECO, a Kazakhstan-based rare earth processing company, operated the plant prior to the acquisition. The acquisition aligns with Lindian's strategy to vertically integrate its rare earth supply chain amid rising global demand for critical minerals. No financial terms were disclosed in the announcement. The plant represents one of the few operational hydrometallurgical rare earth processing facilities in Central Asia.
