MACH2 and ARCH2 hydrogen hubs receive $1.7B in federal funding for clean hydrogen projects in Pennsylvania

The Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub (MACH2) and Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (ARCH2) secured $1.7 billion in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to advance clean hydrogen production in Pennsylvania and surrounding states. MACH2, a public-private consortium, received up to $750 million with an initial $18.8 million tranche, aiming to create 20,000 jobs and accelerate hydrogen-powered manufacturing and transportation. ARCH2, which includes sites in West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, was allocated $925 million for projects using fracked natural gas with carbon capture, including $30 million for planning 11 projects by 12 companies.
