Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla awards engineering contract to Ingeniería Murciana for 50 MWp solar project for San Pedro del Pinatar desalination plants
Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Solar · Country: Spain · Capacity: 50 MW · Announced: 2026-05-21
Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla has awarded Ingeniería Murciana an engineering service contract worth 538,510.79 euros for the design of a 50 MWp photovoltaic installation. This project is intended for the self-consumption of the San Pedro del Pinatar I and II desalination plants in Murcia, Spain. The preliminary design estimates an annual production of 109,281 MWh, sufficient to cover 100% of the daytime electricity consumption and 74.38% of the annual demand of both desalination plants. The project includes the installation of monocrystalline modules of at least 575 Wp, single-axis tracking structures, and the construction of a new substation to elevate the voltage to 66 kV for connection to the existing grid. The new infrastructure will also feature a 66 kV connection and distribution center to link with the consumption centers of the desalination plants.
