Matrix Renewables, backed by TPG, has signed a long-term agreement with EDF for the optimization of a 500 MW/1 GWh battery storage system currently under construction in Eccles, Edinburgh, Scotland. Under this agreement, EDF will provide route-to-market services and optimize the operation of the batteries in the UK energy markets once the asset becomes operational. The project is scheduled to begin commercial operation in the summer of 2027 and will be Matrix Renewables' first independent battery storage project in the United Kingdom. This project is part of Matrix Renewables' strategy to expand its battery storage portfolio.
