Meta signs on to lease AI compute capacity from Firmus in Southeast Asia

Meta signed an agreement on 2026-09-29 to lease AI compute capacity from Firmus for deployments across Firmus' Southeast Asia data centers, extending an existing capacity arrangement that already covers Nvidia GB300 NVL72 compute leased by Meta in Firmus' Melbourne data center. The capacity to be provided in Southeast Asia will be delivered from Firmus' so-called "AI factories", including a Batam, Indonesia facility planned to house 170,000 GPUs and additional sites in Malaysia where OpenAI is also a named customer. Firmus is integrating its HyperCube modular data center solution into these facilities, and the compute delivered to Meta will be based on Nvidia's full-stack DSX platform. The projects are being developed in partnership with data center operator DayOne and form part of Firmus' Asia-Pacific build-out that has taken contracted capacity to more than 900MW after the recent OpenAI capacity agreement. Firmus said in August 2026 it will acquire the manufacturing business behind HyperCube from Benmax, a move tied to scaling its AI factory deployments across Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia.
