METLEN and Tsakos Group launched a joint venture to develop one of Greece’s largest hybrid renewable energy projects through a newly formed special purpose vehicle (SPV). The project, located in Central Greece, combines a 251.9 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant with a 375 MWh energy storage system, marking a material expansion of hybrid renewable infrastructure in the country. METLEN acquired a 40% stake in the existing SPV, which will oversee the development, construction, operation, and commercial management of the facility. The partnership was formalized with Tsakos Group’s TEN Ltd. subsidiary, reflecting shared values and a commitment to long-term collaboration in Greece’s energy transition. Evangelos Mytilineos, Executive Chairman at METLEN, emphasized the project’s role in strengthening grid flexibility and energy security for the Greek economy. Nikos Tsakos, CEO of TEN Ltd., highlighted the strategic importance of the joint venture as a flagship project for the Greek energy market.
