Type: Acquisition · Technology: Data Center · Country: Singapore · Announced: 2026-06-22

MGX, established by the government of Abu Dhabi, is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire DayOne, a Singapore-based digital infrastructure platform, to accelerate its expansion into AI technologies. The potential transaction would mark MGX's first acquisition in Asia as it seeks to build a global portfolio exceeding $100 billion across the AI value chain, including data centers and semiconductor supply chains. DayOne, which had planned a $20 billion US IPO, recently closed a $4.5 billion Series C equity financing round led by Coatue Management and SoftBank Vision Fund, bringing its total funding to date to $4.5 billion. The company has secured over 1.5GW of data center capacity bookings across Asia-Pacific and Europe, with expansion plans targeting Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Finland, and Spain. The acquisition would enable MGX to integrate DayOne's operational infrastructure and accelerate its goal of becoming a leading global AI infrastructure investor.
